Former FC Dallas striker Kenny Cooper injured his knee in Monday’s training session for his club team, German second division side 1860 Munich but the injury is not serious, it was determined Tuesday, Nov. 17. Cooper will miss three weeks and will not need to be operated, according to German media reports.

The injury was feared to be serious: Germany’s Bild Zeitung reported it could likely be an ACL tear, which would have ended any hope for a World Cup spot next summer.

That would have been a tough blow for the 25-year old, who despite the lamentations of fans has been given little time on Bob Bradley’s first team. Yet with Charlie Davies’ injuries, the door had opened for Cooper to make his mark.
