Devann Yao to Ipswich Town?
By ASN Staff • Nov 27th, 2009 • Category: Rumblings“Soccer vagabond” Devann Yao, a 19-year old, New York-born winger has been offered a contract by Roy Keane’s Ipswich Town, according to TWTD.co.uk.
Keane told TWTD Ipswich were discussing a deal with Yao after he played a starring role in the reserves’ 2-2 draw with Celtic on Wednesday: “He did very well,” Keane is quoted as saying. “He was involved in the first goal and scored the second…We’re hoping to do something with him.”
Yao was born to an Ivorian father, who played football professionally in France, and an Italian mother. He was given a scholarship by the United Sports Foundation as an 11-year-old and reportedly had training spells with both Manchester United and Arsenal before joining French side Metz’s youth academy, where he spent three seasons. A year in Italy playing in reserves sides at Livorno and Pisa was followed by a short spell in Scotland with St Mirren’s youth set-up before he returned to the US, where he was on trial with the New York Red Bulls this season, according to TWTD.
