Hector Quintanar signs with Danish club

By ASN Staff • Feb 23rd, 2010 • Category: Transfers

Mexican-American Hector Quintanar has signed with Danish second division club Brabrand IF, according to a report by a German Web site.

Little is known about Quintanar, who previously played for Mexico’s Veracruz. SoccerWay.com lists him as a forward of undetermined age; the German report says he is 24. He appears to have played four years with Clemson University where he tallied six goals and nine assists. He signed with Necaxa of the Mexican first division in 2007.

According to an awkwardly-worded translation (via Google Translate) of an item on Brabrand’s Web site, Quintanar was signed in early January.

Any Danish linguists in the house? Or does anybody have any other information on the player?

Brabrand's website states that Quintanar contacted the club several months ago, and they subsequently arranged a trial during the Danish league's current winter break. This Sunday, he scored twice in a test match against Hobro (third-tier club, Brabrand is second-tier), after which Brabrand signed him for the remainder of the season.

The article also states that Quintanar was born in 1985, has duel Mexican-American citizenship, and plays as either a striker or left winger. He apparently left Necaxa for Veracruz in the summer of 2008, but was waived by Veracruz in January 2009.
  • Very interesting. Thanks so much for this! Sorry was preoccupied with the MLS strike this last day or two.
