Houston Dynamo midfielder Stuart Holden has signed a contract to play with Bolton Wanderers of the English Premier League. The contract ties him to Owen Coyle through the end of their 2009-10 season, but judging by the language on Holden’s Web site, he appears to have accepted a move for the long term.

Bolton Wanderers new head coach Owen Coyle has turned down the chance to sign U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Stuart Holden after a two-week trial, allowing the 24-year old to sign with Sporting Braga, Mirror Football reported tonight, Jan. 18.
Stuart Holden has followed Owen Coyle from Burnley to Bolton Wanderers. The 24-year old Houston Dynamo and U.S. national team midfielder arrived in the U.K. shortly after new year’s for a trial with Burnley. “He trained with the Clarets ahead of their FA Cup game against MK Dons but chose not to stay with the Turf Moor club after it became clear that Coyle would be moving to the Reebok,” The Bolton News reported Jan. 13.

The 24-year old U.S. international’s contract with Major League Soccer expired yesterday, Dec. 31.
